Special Offers for Special Olympics

Special Olympics Minnesota is collecting

 Coke Rewards Cap Codes

Special Olympics Minnesota is collecting the 15 digit rewards codes from the inside of specially marked 20 ounce Coke products.  We are redeeming these codes for prizes to give to our athletes at 2006 State Competitions.  Most of our competitions feature games and other activities our athletes can take part in between their sports competitions.  The items we collect from the Coke Rewards program will be given to athletes participating in those games and events.

Help us get some great gifts for our athletes by turning your Coke Rewards Codes in to Shane Kiesner at kiesners@somn.org.  (You can email the 15 digit codes in a spreadsheet or in the body of an email.)

The Recycle for Special Olympics cell phone recycling program lets people donate their old and unwanted phones on behalf of Special Olympics Minnesota. RMS Communications Group, a leading wireless international wholesaler, recycles or refurbishes the old phones and makes a donation to Special Olympics for each one – ranging from $1.00 to $100.00 per phone!

Contributing is fast and easy! Just visit www.somn.org/recycle/index.com and register online. There are three ways to participate in the program:

What is the Polar Bear Plunge?

The Polar Bear Plunge (organized by law enforcement agencies and a partner event to the Law Enforcement Torch Run) is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to support Special Olympics athletes by jumping into frigid Minnesota waters. During the months of January – March, 2006 there will be seven opportunities across the state to take the plunge and be FREEZIN’ FOR A REASON. What better reason than to support Special Olympics Minnesota athletes. And for those who are “too chicken” to make the splash, you can still show your support by making a pledge to a “braver soul” and there is always room for spectators the day of the event.

To participate, plungers must raise a minimum of $75 in pledges. All plungers will receive a great incentive prize the day of the plunge and additional incentive prizes will be awarded based on the amount raised*. Register Here Online - must be done 7 days prior to plunge date to ensure your incentives are available the day of the plunge and to receive your 2006 Commemorative Polar Bear Plunge pin.
